DIAGNOSTICS

With hyplex StaphyloResist® screening directly from swabs   can give a secure reliable detection of MRSA in 4 – 5 hours.  hyplex StaphyloResist® plus also enables the identification of CA-MRSA by detection of the lukS-lukF gene plus high-level mupirocin resistance.

What are the features of the hyplex StaphyloResist??

  • Direct detection of MRSA from swabs
  • Enrichment by culture not necessary
  • Differentiation between S. aureus and coagulase negative staphylococci (CNS)
  • Simple test performance with individual test assembly
  • Results within 4 hours!!!!

PLUS

  • Clear identification of CA-MRSA
  • Reliable detection of Panton-Valentine leukocidin genes lukF-lukS and high-level mupirocin resistance

Staphylococci are widespread in colonizing the skin and oropharyngeal mucosa membrane of human individuals.  Staphylococcus (S.) aureus shows the strongest pathological potential of all known species of staphylococci and is widespread as a cause of nosocomial infections.

Primarily, the resistance of S. aureus against methicillin (MRSA) currently represents a problematic resistance mechanism in clinical practice.  Therefore, MRSA infections have become a significant risk factor for affected patients as well as a major cost factor for hospitals.  In a hospital setting, the time needed for important identification of patients who are MRSA carriers or infected by MRSA is crucial.  In addition, CA-MRSA infections are increasing worldwide. A microbial culture from swabs requires at least 18 hours.  Subsequently, another 18 hours are required for the following analysis of their antibiotic resistance.
